Tula's O`ahu Debut

Aloha Mermaids,

This past weekend we at Tula made our offical O`ahu debut!  We participated in the annual Made in Hawai`i event at the Neal S. Blaisdell August 15-17, 2014 on O`ahu.  The annual event featured all products that were locally made in Hawai`i.  There were over 500 local vendors within the Blaisdell arena and the exhibition hall.  Over the 3-day weekend, over 40,000 people attended.  It was a great way for us to present our brand to the public and to meet and network with other local vendors.

We felt that our Tula debut was a success!  It was our first major booth event other than the annual Univeristy of Hawai`i at Manoa Art Festival.  We sold multiple Tula products such as our handmade shell and sea glass jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bangles) and our handsewn keiki dresses.  Our booth had a unique feature of providing a "Bangle Bar" for our customers to have the freedom to personally choose their own pre-drilled shell for their bangle and they could also choose which 14 guage wire they wanted; sterling silver or 12kt gold filled wire, all for a set price of $35.  We noticed that some of our customers came back the following day of the event to purchase more earrings and bangles!  That excited us and gave us confidence in our products.  Customers gave us great feedback expressing to us that they enjoyed our products because of the high quality of our jewelry, such as the metals we use; sterling silver and 14kt gold filled for earrings and necklaces, 14 guage sterling silver and 12kt gold filled bangles and how we use whole shells that we personally find from Moloka`i; the shells were unique and not broken into pieces and the designer material that we use as the fabric of our keiki dresses.  We noticed that the younger school aged girls tended to like the the wave and pineapple earring designs with big cone shells and the adult women liked the smaller simplier earrings with smaller shells.  Good things to keep in mind while we make more jewelry for future sales!

This was a great learning experience for us as we look forward to being able to participate in more local festivals and it was a great way to meet and interact with our customers!  As we keep developing our Tula brand, we will be making shell Tiara's for sale and will be making new jewelry pieces with authentic Tahitian pearls!  Thank you to all who checked us out at the Made in Hawai`i event this past weekend!  You can also like us on facebook:  www.facebook.com/TulaHawaii or follow us on Instagram: @tulahawaii for more updates about Tula :)
